Fans have been swarming over recent reports that MCU president Kevin Feige is looking to bring OG Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back to reprise both their roles as the famed web slinger in Spider-Man 3, which has reportedly been teased as a Spiderverse film. in addition to those reports, the sinister 6 have also been tapped for appearances in the movie, one member of which, will be a familiar face returning to his characters role. Jamie Foxx, who portrayed Electro in Andrew Garfield's "Amazing Spider-Man 2, has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as the iconic Spidey vilain in the upcoming Spiderverse film. This is not the first character from non-MCU Spider-Man films that have returned to join Holland's universe, as actor JK Simmons who very expertly played J. Jonah Jameson in Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy, also made a return as the character in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
In light of the news of Electro's return, Foxx also confirmed that his Electro will look much different in the MCU than he did in Garfield's film. Fans have been speculating what Foxx's Electro's MCU makeover could look like, if done properly by the brilliant minds of Marvel Studios, and one fan might have just given us the best concept to date. An Instagram artist by the name of V2vdesigns, shared his artwork of a redesigned Electro with Foxx back at the helm. The fanart can be seen below:
The art shows Foxx's Electro in his armored up design from ASM2, only this time rocking his comic accurate yellow and green colors, something the film very badly needed and failed to accommodate. The art also gives Electro some yellow armored shoulder pads, as well as some well detailed lighting bolts on his chest(another comic accurate refence that ASM2 failed to meet) The design is very well made and looks like a concept that Marvel Studios would most likely conjure up. The only detail still missing from Foxx's Electro by both Sony and V2vdesigns is his iconic mask. Given that the mask is a giant yellow star shaped lighting bolt, hopefully Sony and Marvel can come up with a way to make a suitable version of the mask that wont look too silly on screen, much like the way Captain America's iconic winged helmet was perfected on the big screen(and even actually worn in its original form during a play in the first Captain America film), as opposed to Hawkeye not even getting a CONCEPT for his iconic mask that never once appeared in the MCU(which is severely disappointing given that even Hank Pym's OG Ant Man helmet managed an appearance.) With the idea of a Spiderverse plot set for Tom Holland's 3rd film, fans have also already started speculating who Miles Morales's role will be casted to(Miles's Spider-Man is one of the center points of the Spiderverse in almost every iteration of the story) and names like Jaden Smith(The Karate Kid, After Earth), Tyrel Jackson Williams(Lab Rats, Pants On Fire), and Rj Cyler( Scream, Power Rangers) are choices that fans have been tossing around for the role. Even a couple of YouTubers with known acting experience have been targeted by fans for the role, such as Cory Kenshin(Free Guy, Prom Knight), Matt Smith(Walk The Prank), and Isaiah Chambers(Infancy, Prom Knight, Megaman 1&2) as well as some other select tubers. no new details on the upcoming Spider-Man film have since been revealed.
